Lion Returning

Saved for two months, I still knew very little about Scripture. One afternoon I went down for a nap.

I thought I was awake. Standing next to my mother’s hospital bed in my living room, I was looking out the bay windows. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Clinging to a large tree directly in front of me was a mountain lion. He was stretched out, hanging onto the front of the tree trunk with his claws. On the tree with him were two monkeys, one on each side. They appeared to be taunting him, and he wasn’t happy.

It occurred to me that unless I got a picture of what I was seeing, no one would believe it. I ran to my desk to get my camera, but when I got back to the window the lion was no longer on the tree. There wasn’t even a tree. In its place was a long road that went straight out from the window. I could see that the lion had gone to the end of it, about 150 yards, and was resting on his side, his head erect. The zoom on my camera wouldn’t focus on him, so I didn’t take a picture.

My yard began filling with people carrying media equipment. I knew they must have heard about the lion and had come looking for him. No one came to the door to talk to me, so I just stood at the window and watched. The people waited and walked around a bit, looked impatient and then left.  I looked down the road again and saw that the lion was still there. The instant I looked at him he got to his feet and start running straight back toward the house. Things then starting happening fast.

Deep ravines appeared on either side of the road. The lion began taking powerful leaps over them, first on one side and then the other. He was swooping down slightly and catching people on his back mid-jump as they were falling into the ravine, then putting them down on the other side. He kept going back for more, back and forth, jumping, catching people, unloading them and going for more. As I was watching this, I woke up.

Stop weeping; behold, the Lion that is from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome.… (Revelation 5:5)

The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost. (1 Timothy 1:15)

Behold, I come quickly. ~Jesus
