Welcome to the Gold Fish Witness blog!

The title is from a vivid dream I had a several years ago. It has to do with my testimony, which I’ll share in detail soon. Right now I just want to begin this by saying something I will continue saying: God speaks in any manner He chooses, for His own reasons, purposes, and glory.

I began sharing bits and pieces of my experiences when I came to understand them. Before that, I was a typical prodigal daughter, grown and losing faith in the God I knew as a child. I began trying various belief systems like I was trying on clothes. Nothing seemed to fit right, so I tried mixing them together in a patchwork of philosophies. I was a confused mess. It took a family tragedy and years of semi-isolation as an at-home caregiver to make me realize my need to return to my first love–Jesus.

It was my surrender to Christ that caused all the pieces of my life to fall into their proper place. I was changed, radically, and I began to see that God had been patiently calling me back for years, beckoning me home, speaking lovingly and persistently to me as I slept. I’ve kept a record of my dreams since before I knew what was going on. It took God to open my eyes and understanding.

This forum is a place for me to share some of what I’ve been given over the years, and how I processed it. I believe time is short for Christ followers, and I feel the need to share what I can, while I can.

If you don’t believe that God speaks today through dreams and waking visuals, you might not feel comfortable reading my entries. There was a time when I wasn’t comfortable with it, myself, until I learned I was far from alone. I’ve read comments online from people who are receiving communication in this manner and asking, “Why me?” It’s a question I hit myself over the head with for two years before I even began to feel comfortable admitting it. But God. God continued directing me to Scripture, helping me to connect the dots, enriching my understanding. He’s truly a wonderful Teacher and Counselor!

I don’t always get it right away, and I certainly don’t have all the answers. Yes, God does speak through His written word, through people and circumstances. But His voice is not always still and small. He’s a powerful God with a history of speaking in unexpected ways. Sometimes it’s in a dream or vision. I believe this is increasing worldwide, with people being called to the One who knows and loves them. I’ve read opinions of highly educated theologians who discount people like me, but that’s okay. People who do that need only one God-given dream to have their worldview flipped. You can’t put God in a box–He’ll surprise you.

My hope is that you find some amount of encouragement here, and if you haven’t already, that you come to understand that God is active, vibrant, ever-present, and always listening.

God bless you!

In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls upon men, while slumbering on their beds, then He opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction. (Job 33:15-16)
